Prevention begins where people belong.

Mission

Killinarden Drug Primary Prevention Group (K.D.P.P.G.) works with children, parents, and neighbours to interrupt harm before it becomes crisis. We invest in local confidence, practical support, and steady relationships so prevention is visible in everyday life. Our work is rooted in Killinarden and shaped by the families who live it.

Timeline
1994

Parents built the first prevention rooms.

Local residents opened space for after-school support, early intervention, and direct conversations about drugs, pressure, and choice before young people were lost to silence.

Timeline
2003

Family work moved to the centre.

K.D.P.P.G. widened its focus to include parent leadership, home visits, and practical advocacy, recognising that prevention holds when whole households have support.

Timeline
Today

Community trust remains the primary tool.

Prevention now stretches from youth spaces to family support, outreach, and neighbourhood partnerships, with the same principle: stay present early, stay present long enough, and stay local.

Faces

Six first names. Six local stories.

Prevention is not one conversation. It is the fifth, sixth, and seventh time a young person sees the same adult still there.

Field Note / Youth Worker

Families do not need lectures first. They need someone who knows the road, the pressure, and the names behind the door.

Where We Work

Rooted in Killinarden, connected across Tallaght.

The group’s work stays local by design, with activity moving between schools, family homes, youth spaces, and community venues where support is easiest to reach.
